B-Schools contemplate GRE scores

Looking to attract a broader applicant pool, Stanford will allow MBA applicants to submit GRE scores in lieu of GMAT results.

The cost of the application process can be a barrier to admission for underrepresented minorities, women, and applicants from developing economies. GRE costs far less than GMAT. Also, the GRE is accepted at other graduate and post doc programs, and candidates from non traditional backgrounds will not have to retake yet another entrance testing exam to apply for business school.

Sloan is contemplating a similar move towards the GRE.
